How to increase voluntary reporting

New law in force

The Equality Act came into force on 1 October 10. Some of the information on this page may be out of date.

As part of our work with the Government, the business community, trade unions and other stakeholders to help develop proposals for gender pay reporting by the private and third sectors, there are several phases to the project.  We are consulting on proposals for promoting gender pay reporting in the private sector and we are running a survey on women’s individual experiences of gender pay reporting in the workplace.

Development work is also being carried out on our behalf by the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) that focuses on the future of gender pay reporting. We are looking for ways to improve current reporting practices and improve voluntary take up in order to address the gender pay gap. We aim to develop the most appropriate, effective and least burdensome ways for organisations to voluntarily measure and report on their gender pay gaps, as well as how this information could be published internally.

IES has produced a short survey to gather views on this. Your input would form part of the formal consultation process that will help to inform how government works in future to help employers address the national gender pay gap.

To take part in the survey, please follow this link on the Employment Studies website

please note: The consultation will close on 28 October 2009
