Specialist advice line for advisers

Equality Act in force

The new Act came into force on 1 October 2010. Some of the information on this page may be out of date.

We run an advice line to support Trade Union Reps, Citizens Advice Bureaux and employment/discrimination rights advisers working for non-profit making organisations who are dealing with individual cases concerning Sex Discrimination (including transgender and equal pay), Sexual Orientation Discrimination, Age Discrimination, Disability Discrimination, Race Discrimination and Religion and/or Belief Discrimination.

The Specialist Advice Line is staffed by Legal Casework and Litigation Officers who provide a specialised advisory service to representatives and advisers on legal claims.

Our legal officers can advise and guide you about:

  • the implications of the law and legal developments for the individual you are advising, or representing with a legal claim
  • completing legal processes and procedures and framing legal arguments to maximise the potential for a successful outcome
  • the potential for Commission funding on the case.
