

The Equality and Human Rights Commission, AbilityNet and BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, have worked together to develop the first ever course of its kind on digital accessibility. The course was showcased at the E-Access 2012 Conference in London on 28 June. The 90 minute e-learning course aims to equip individuals and businesses with the tools to make their website accessible and open it up to the widest possible audience. At the end of the course, you will complete a short test leading to an official certificate of completion from BCS.
This 90 minute, cost effective, online course is designed to equip individuals and businesses interested in accessibility best practice with a fundamental understanding of digital inclusion.
Whatever sector you're in digital accessibility can help you reach every customer on every platform. Digital Accessibility: Web Essentials is a new online learning module that gives your team the insight they need to make your digital content and online services accessible to as many people as possible. Developed by Abilitynet, BCS and Equality and Humans Rights Commission it is relevant to IT staff as well as compliance, HR and other teams. It can be accessed by individual learners on the BCS website, but can also be integrated into a corporate e-learning environments.
Completing the Web Accessibility Essentials e-learning course will lead to a valuable certificate of achievement, enabling those who complete the course and complete a short test to share their skills amongst colleagues and other designers, developers and web site producers. Web Accessibility Essentials provides tools to help you test accessibility at all stages of web site development and provides recognised training standards for identifying usability problems and how to easily solve them.
