CILIP
- Diversity awareness leaflet in info resource, website and corporate member offering. Sounding board of members on diversity issues being set up. Faith in the Workplace event held.
CMI
- ‘Diversity Matters’ website set up containing diversity policy, resources, links and sector employment case studies. Sessions at international conference on influencing attitudes to disability, appealing to different audiences and culture, using new media to tackle physical and mental health issues in ethnic minority communities, communicating to Muslim women in Pakistan.
CIPR
- Work through networks to raise awareness of public sector duties and special legislative requirements. Publish frequent articles both online and in magazine on equality issues, and the legislative requirements and how they apply to the profession.Regular conferences and seminars on the equality duties to provide information and gather evidence from members on the status of equality in the workplace. Use Annual Survey of to gather evidence on levels of equality training and awareness of equality schemes.
GTCE
- New monitoring arrangements explained to members and all members asked to submit monitoring data. All research and news relating to the implications of diversity issues on sector professionals reported to members. EP progress reported through newsletters and website. Council members involved in QED meetings. Vacancies on Council advertised with key message about current under-representation.
ICG
- Articles in monthly newsletter and other publications. General guidance on considering diversity issued to groups and branches and some discussion had.
IoP
- On-going programme of raising member awareness of diversity responsibilities and issues, for example, through a practitioner firm Equality and Diversity Forum, through various conferences and summits, research projects on issues as well on the publication of guidance on implementing diversity in practitioner firms. Issues also covered in professional qualification material.
Law Society
- Conferences and seminars on best practice on providing services to minority groups. Guidance notes on particular areas of service or client groups. Network providing information and advice. (Also relates to Public good)
CILIP
- The professional practice leaflet on ‘managing diversity’ was published in July 2007 and has just been reprinted. It is promoted via the Institute’s diversity web pages and printed copies made available free of charge on request. Member research on ethnic minority managers and their career aspirations (with a particular focus on the public sector) was published in June 2008. - Published report on ‘The Business of Diversity’ October 2006, drawing on earlier CEBR report on PR industry, aiming to help PR practitioners to understand the business case for embracing social diversity. (Also relates to Public good)
