This page details work carried out by members of the Equally Professional network in relation to effective diversity monitoring.
- New monitoring arrangements explained to members and all members asked to submit monitoring data. (Also relates to Member awareness)
ICG
- Diversity is captured when members join the Institute. The data is regularly analysed and reported to the Equality and Diversity Advisory Group and Council. The proportion of UK BME members has risen from 7% in 2000 to 14% in 2007.
CIH
- Have collected membership information regarding age, race, gender and disability in the past. Membership system changing so current collection incomplete. Extending coverage to governance and professional qualifications. CILIP
- Membership application form and annual member update process include the standard ethnicity codes and request information on disability.
CMI
- In the past information collected has been limited to age and gender. Since 2007 the membership application form has been amended to collect information from new members on race (using census ethnicity codes) and disability.
CIPR
- Because the majority of our membership were automatically registered in 2000 upon the formation of the Register, our reliable data relates to gender and age only. We have taken steps to try to enhance the quality of data in relation to race and disability through periodic mailings to members but with limited success. Data is better for new entrants who are required to complete an application form.
GTCE
- New monitoring arrangements in place – 88% returns from members. Annual check with a target of 95% for next year. Monitoring data indicates low recruitment from BME communities. Discussions ongoing with HE courses and employers.
ICG
- Monitoring plan to be implemented in 2008 but does not include ethnicity of membership. Data reported to Diversity Committee and publicised through website and digests. Forms basis for Diversity Programme strategy.
IoP
- Monitor membership as well as own staff. We also monitor the outcomes of regulatory activities. Making the necessary changes to include questions on sexual orientation and faith.
