This page contains guides for public authorities in England (and bodies with non-devolved functions in Scotland and Wales).
The guides provide an overview of the equality duty, including the general equality duty, the specific duties and who they apply to. They cover what public authorities should do to meet the duty. This includes steps that are legally required, as well as recommended actions.
Separate guidance (and Codes of Practice) on the equality duty will be available from the Commission for Scotland and Wales.
All our guides now have been revised (December 2011 and January 2012) to reflect the final version of the specific duty regulations.
