Creating a fairer Britain
July 2010
Since October 2009 we have been actively looking for extensive input from across society to help us develop an authoritative evidence base for our Triennial Review.
The initial phase of our evidence gathering, the Call for Evidence, saw many different individuals and organisations contact us with their experiences of discrimination, inequality and unfairness. In total, we received over 100 responses, each one shedding light on different areas of inequality in Britain. These have been incredibly useful in helping inform our research, and later this year we will publish some of them online.
Our second phase of engagement looked to develop this further. Throughout April to June 2010 we held strand-based roundtable events where we presented our initial findings and preliminary conclusions, offering further opportunities for our stakeholders to contribute their thoughts towards our work. These events focused on the following themes:
To complement this, our Regional Team also consulted with other vulnerable and marginalised sections of society. Through this we also gained valuable contributions from a wide range of different communities:
We thank all those who have contributed towards our research, whether in writing or otherwise. As we enter the summer months, the Triennial Review team will now focus fully on pulling together all these sources in time for our mandated publication date of 30 September 2010.
As we near the report’s publication we will be running seminars exploring the themes of the Triennial Review, giving key overviews of our analyses. If you would like further information about these, as well as our further stakeholder work in relation to the Triennial Review publication/launch, please contact stakeholders@equalityhumanrights.com.
If you have any further questions in relation to the Triennial Review itself, please contact the Triennial Review team at triennialreview@equalityhumanrights.com.
