This briefing looks at disabled people’s experiences of crime and compares these with the experiences of non-disabled people. It considers the impact of crime on disabled people's lifestyles and concludes with disabled people's concerns about experiencing crime in the future. The briefing supports the Equality and Human Rights Commission (the Commission)’s inquiry into disability-related harassment.
This briefing uses British Crime Survey (BCS) data to understand the different equality groups’ expectations about being insulted and their experience of intimidation, threats, violence and crime.
