Triennial Review

Every three years, we are required by law to report to Parliament on how far Britain has come towards being a fair society - and how far we still have to go.

This 'Triennial Review', entitled How Fair is Britain? is the first major study of its kind to bring together all available evidence and will provide a unique insight into the current state of equality in Britain when it launches on the 11 October.

The review’s findings will help organisations identify key challenges in creating a more equal society, affecting a variety of areas of life including employment, standard of living, care and support, and power and voice among others.
Over the next year, we will be actively looking for input and feedback from everyone who has an interest helping us identify the main challenges that face our society.

You can read the latest updates below, by signing-up to our email newsletter and following us on Twitter - @EHRC.

Triennial review updates

October 2010 – Launch of Triennial Review

The Triennial Review is due to launch on the 11 October. ‘How Fair is Britain?’ will be available to download in full, and as an executive summary, in both Word and PDF format.

July 2010 - Analysis, drafting and preparing for publication

The initial phase of our evidence gathering, the Call for Evidence, saw many different individuals and organisations contact us with their experiences of discrimination, inequality and unfairness. In total, we received over 100 responses, each one shedding light on different areas of inequality in Britain. These have been incredibly useful in helping inform our research, and later this year we will publish some of them online...

April 2010 - Initial findings from our evidence

The Call for Evidence for the Triennial Review closed on 31 January 2010 after 15 weeks of being open for submissions. Through that time we heard from many individuals and organisations about their experiences of discrimination, unfairness, and inequality. We have been looking through the submissions with great interest; they have proved to be an invaluable source of information for our evidence base. The material submitted has played, and will continue to play an important role in developing our thinking, and will be made publically available when we publish the Review later this year.
