Creating a fairer Britain

I’m Kathleen James. I live alone. I retired as a Head Teacher 20 years ago. I am fiercely independent but can’t get out and about as I used to, especially after I had a recent fall and now use a wheelchair. I would really like an outdoor powered wheelchair, so I can continue to go out and see family and friends. I have been told by the hospital that these aren’t provided.
I am still in touch with some of my old members of staff. One of them mentions that I have Article 14 rights – not to be discriminated against (including on the grounds of disability) when accessing my Article 8 rights to a private and family life.
In the application of the Convention rights, you have the right not to be treated differently because of your race, religion, sex, political views or any other status, unless this can be justified objectively. Everyone must have equal access to Convention rights, whatever their status.
