In December 2008 the board of the Equality and Human Rights Commission appointed the management consultancy Deloitte to conduct a review of its workings.
This step was taken as part of normal and recognised best practice in corporate governance under the requirements of corporate codes, Cabinet Office guidelines and Office of Government Commerce.
The primary benefit of carrying out a Board Effectiveness Review is to improve the performance of the Board and in doing so improve the organisation's performance.
