The Commission has a strong interest in ensuring diversity and equality in the police service. We welcome this Bill, particularly around local accountability as well as the establishment of a statutory Senior Police Appointments Panel. We also welcome the provision in the Bill to allow lap dancing clubs to be licensed as Sex Encounter Venues and urge local authorities to use this power.
