Public Bodies Bill: second reading

The Public Bodies Bill will give ministers powers to amend the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s constitutional arrangements, funding and functions, through secondary legislation.

The Commission has recently responded to the government’s consultation on our reform, setting out what legislative and non-legislative measures would help us fulfil our role more effectively. We are continuing positive discussions with the government around our proposals.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission welcomes the opportunity to comment on the Public Bodies Bill and looks forward to the opportunity to discuss the points in this briefing with MPs in more detail.
