Immigration has been largely beneficial to the UK's economy and has had little, or no, negative impact on the labour market, according to a major report released today by the Equality and Human Rights Commission. However, the report warns that less skilled workers are likely to face greater competition from immigrants in the current recession.

A report released today by the Equality and Human Rights Commission shows investment in adequate site provision can generate income for local authorities, improve community relations and provide safe and decent accommodation for Gypsy and Traveller communities.

The Commission today called for radical reform of the 1975 Equal Pay Act. Nicola Brewer, the Commission's Chief Executive, said the Act was 'no longer fit for purpose'.
