New research released today by the Equality and Human Rights Commission shows that despite a slight decrease in the number of hate crimes, far too many people are still being targeted for crime and violence because of who they are.

The Commission has joined forces with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to produce equality and human rights guidance for care inspectors. The advice is aimed at ensuring people who are most vulnerable to harm have their rights upheld and respected.

In response to the Employment Appeal Tribunal decision in the case of Jane Cordell and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office,Mike Smith, Commissioner and Chair of the Disability Committee, said: 'The Commission supported the case of Jane Cordell because we know how important it is that reasonable adjustments are provided to allow disabled people to participate fully in the workforce and realise their potential.'
