The Equality and Human Rights Commission Scotland is working to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect and promote human rights and to build good relations, ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in society.
The Commission in Scotland will provide information and advice, campaign on issues regarding age, race, disability, gender, religion or belief and sexual orientation and transgender status, seek to influence legislation and policy, and support key legal cases. We work with the Scottish Government and other partners to promote equality and spread best practice. We will continue working closely with the Scottish Human Rights Commission to ensure all society is treated equally and fairly. The Equality and Human Rights Commission acts not only for the disadvantaged, but for everyone in society, and can use its enforcement powers where necessary to guarantee peoples equality.
We are pleased to announce the publication of our Scotland Business Plan 2012/13. To maximise the impact of our reduced resources, the business plan this year will concentrate on fewer but higher impact activities.
