Like other public bodies, the Commission must meet the requirements of the new Public Sector Equality Duty. However, the Commission is unique among public bodies subject to the duty in that equality is our core work. We have therefore identified equality objectives around all the work we do, our employment practices and our ways of working and these are set out in our 2012/13 business plan.

The Commission is facing a period of significant change and development as a result of reductions in our resources and the UK Government’s consultation on our powers and duties. As such our equality objectives will be kept under continuous review and adapted to reflect these changes.
