How long we keep our records

Our retention schedule is a tool used to make sure information is kept for as long as it’s needed.

It sets out how long we keep records for different types of data.

It helps us to carry out the disposal of our records in a consistent and controlled way.

It takes into account legal and regulatory requirements, the needs of our stakeholders and our business needs. 

We aim to stick to record keeping and information management requirements set out in:

  • statutory and regulatory codes of practice
  • sector-specific regulations
  • various types of guidance
  • legislation

Managing our retention schedule

We review our retention schedule regularly.

It may be changed to reflect business needs, risk management procedures, or our changing priorities.

It is normally reviewed and updated twice a year.
