Armed Forces (Service Complaints Financial Assistance) Bill – House of Commons, Report Stage – Briefing on amendments

9 March 2015

The Commission supports the aims of the Armed Forces (Service Complaints Financial Assistance) Bill and welcomes the establishment of the office of Ombudsman. However, the Commission’s analysis concludes that amendments to the Bill are needed to ensure that the service complaints system and the Ombudsman contribute effectively to a reduction in bullying, harassment and discrimination of Service personnel.

Based on this analysis the Commission has published this briefing in support of amendments 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 23, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36, to Clauses 1 and 2 of the Bill, which would give effect to our recommendations.
