European Union (EU) structural funds support economic development across EU countries. They are used to provide funding to some of the most disadvantaged groups in the UK.

In this report we explore how EU structural funds promote equality and human rights across Great Britain, and address some of the shortcomings in how the funds operate.

The UK government has committed to replacing these funds with a ‘UK Shared Prosperity Fund’ when we leave the EU.

We therefore make recommendations for how the new fund should operate, from an equality and human rights perspective.
